El cine que nos lleva. Entrevista con José Luis Sampedro

Abstract

José Luis Sampedro fue unos de los grandes humanistas españoles de finales del siglo xx y principios del nuevo milenio. Economista, pero también novelista, poeta, autor teatral y ensayista, Sampredro fue, sobre todo, un intelectual comprometido con su tiempo. Dos de sus novelas fueron adaptadas a las pantallas cinematográficas: El río que nos lleva (Antonio del Real, 1989) y The Etruscan Smile (La sonrisa etrusca, Oded Binnun y Mihal Brezis, 2018). En esta entrevista se indaga acerca de sus relaciones con el cine, sus mitos y sus preferencias. El escritor manifiesta, con la libertad que le caracterizaba, sus opiniones acerca de distintas películas que le habían dejado alguna huella a lo largo de su vida, del futuro del cine y del trabajo de algunos de los cineastas que más le interesaron. Se trata, en fin, de una conversación en profundidad sobre la innegable influencia que esta moderna manifestación artística ha ejercido sobre la sociedad y la cultura contemporánea.

José Luis Sampedro was one of the great Spanish humanists of the late twentieth century and the beginning of the new millennium. An economist, but also a novelist, poet, playwright and essayist, Sampredro was, above all, an intellectual committed to his time. Two of his novels were adapted for the cinema: El rio que nos lleva (Antonio del Real, 1989) and The Etruscan Smile (La sonrisa etrusca, Oded Binnun and Mihal Brezis, 2018). This interview explores his relationship with cinema, his myths and his preferences. The writer expresses, with his characteristic freedom, his opinions about different films that had left an impression on him throughout his life, about the future of cinema and about the work of some of the filmmakers who most interested him. In short, it is an in-depth conversation on the undeniable influence that this modern artistic manifestation has had on contemporary society and culture.
