La2-xErx(MoO4)3(x¼0.75,1,1.25)werepreparedbysolid-statereactionfromthe LaandErtrimolybdates.Thecorrelationoftheferroelectricpropertieswiththecrystalstructure,asafunctionof thexconcentration,wasstudiedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD),dielectricandoptical spectroscopy,andtheferroelectrichysteresis loopmeasurements.Theβ0-Gd2(MoO4)3structuretypewas identifiedbyanon-conventional Rietveldmethod, includingasymmetryanalysis.Contrarytotheexpectations, theferroelectricpropertieswere intensifiedby theEr3þconcentration increase: themaximumpolarization forx¼1.25reachesoneorderof magnitudelargerthanthatofx¼0.75,andtheCurietemperatureincreasewasaround200K.Thisunexpected behavior isoppositeof thatobservedfortheimproperferroelectricsRE2(MoO4)3,wheretheferroelectricpropertiesareenhancedwiththeREionicradiusincrease.Hence, theseriesLa2-xErx(MoO4)3showan“widertuning range”forferroelectricpropertiesoppositetotherareearthtrimolybdatefamily
