Resumen
The Canaries are a volcanic archipelago in which many existing volcanic rocks on our planet are represented. The lack of geotechnical information on these materials hinders the activity of other professionals and specially of those dedicated to Rock Mechanics Research. This adversely affects the quality and safety of buildings that are planned in the Canary Islands. In this paper we have focused on Welded Ignimbrites, a lithotype presents in the Canary Islands with a total of ten different samples available in the insular market. There have been numerous assays to determine their physical – mechanical properties, to then obtain possible correlations from simpler tests and lower cost in order to estimate properties that would have required a more complex analysis and therefore, a higher cost. The correlations were carried out by two distinct analysis. The first one under the assumption of a simple correlation; in which on the one hand a linear fit and the other a second order polynomial fit was performed. Second, and for those properties that could not be estimated by this method, multiple correlation analysis was applied.
