Empoderamiento de la mujer en el turismo. Caso Municipio y Parque Nacional Torotoro en Potosí ‐ Bolivia

Abstract

Este estudio inicia un aporte en la investigación sobre las mujeres en turismo en el municipio y Parque Nacional Torotoro en Potosí, área turística protegida por el Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia. El objetivo es analizar el estado actual del empoderamiento político, social, económico e individual de la mujer en el turismo comunitario en la zona. Siguiendo una metodología de enfoque cuantitativo, los principales resultados muestran que existen avances en los indicadores de empoderamiento y que la mujer ha ganado espacios importantes, en los ámbitos público como privado. Empero, quedan desafíos pendientes para ser incorporadas de manera plena en áreas administrativas, públicas, de valorización de sus productos o servicios, entre otros. El estudio concluye las vetas sobre las cuales se debe seguir trabajando para lograr un empoderamiento de la mujer en turismo de manera más sostenible en el tiempo.

This study is an initial contribution to research on women in tourism in the municipality of Potosí and the Torotoro, National Park, a tourist area protected by the Pluri‐national State of Bolivia. The objective is to analyze the current state of the political, social, economic and individual empowerment of women in community tourism in the area. Following a quantitative methodology, the main results show that there are advances in the empowerment indicators and that women have gained important spaces in the public and private spheres. However, there are still pending challenges to be fully incorporated into administrative, public areas and valorisation of their products or services, among others. The study concludes the lines along which work must continue to achieve the empowerment of women in tourism in a more sustainable way over time.
