Assessment Method). Delirium is an alteration of the consciousness state and of the client’s
attention that may coexist with a change in the client’s basal cognition and may
fluctuate over the hours and days. There are four varieties of delirium:
hyperactive, hypoactive, subsyndrome, and mixed. It is predicted that between
30% and 50% of the clients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will develop delirium.
The most common among these percentages is hypoactive delirium, which is,
paradoxically, the most difficult to examine.
The main objective of this study is to identify delirium in critical clients and
correlate it with the associated variables in the period of investigation.
This is a prospective, descriptive, and longitudinal investigation and it will
be carried on the ICU of the Hospital Universitario de Canarias from October 2023
to March 2024. In this procedure, it will be used the Richmond Agitation Sedation
Scale (RASS), the Scale of Behavior Indicators of Pain, and the Confusion
Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU).
