La seminoteca del herbario TFC (SEGAI): desempolvando un pequeño gran tesoro

Abstract

La seminoteca del Herbario TFC (SEGAI) es una colección accesoria iniciada en 1974 por iniciativa el Dr. Wildpret y que hasta 1985 participó en intercambios a través de Index Seminum (Departamento de Botánica, 1974-1976 y 1978-1985), momento en el que la colección se abandonó para focalizar el esfuerzo técnico de conservación en las colecciones principales del Herbario. Hasta el presente, esta colección, constituida por 3061 muestras, se ha mantenido prácticamente sin uso, salvo excepcionalmente alguna consulta de naturaleza taxonómica. El objetivo principal del trabajo ahora emprendido es mejorar las condiciones generales de conservación de la colección y darla a conocer a la comunidad científica. Se han analizado las coberturas taxonómicas, espaciales y temporales de las 1565 muestras de semillas recolectadas en el archipiélago canario, y se ha realizado un análisis de la calidad de los datos de dichas muestras.

Now, we have undertaken the improvement of the general conservation of the collection, and we want to make it known to the scientific community. Taxonomic, spatial, and temporal coverage of the 1565 seed samples collected in the Canary Archipelago has been analysed, and an evaluation of the quality of the sample data has been carried out.
