Efecto de la aplicación de biochar durante el proceso de compostaje en un sistema de compostaje en pila

2023Abstract
El biochar es un material rico en carbono (60-90 %) generalmente producido por la
pirólisis de la biomasa. Se trata de un material que presenta interesantes
características ya que puede mejorar los suelos agrícolas aumentando la capacidad
de retención de agua, puede mejorar la estabilidad del suelo, ayudar a las poblaciones
de microorganismos, etc. Asimismo, se han demostrado ciertos beneficios en su uso
en compostaje, los estudios demuestran beneficios en la aireación y en la estructura
del compost. Por otro lado, detectaron un aumento de las actividades de ureasa,
fosfatasa y polifenol oxidasa del compost combinado con biochar de entre un 30 y un
40 % a pesar de la menor cantidad de biomasa microbiana. Con todo esto, se planteó
un estudio de los efectos del biochar dentro de un sistema de compostaje en pila. Se
analizaron 3 dosificaciones: un control con un 0% de biochar, una primera dosis del
5% y una segunda del 15%. Se emplearon 12 microcompostadores con 4 repeticiones
tomándose muestras de 3 por cada dosificación (9 en total) y empleando los otros
para reponer la parte de muestra extraída. Se analizaron los parámetros químicos y
microbiológicos de los microcompostadores, así como, los parámetros físicos de la
evolución de la pila de compost. Se reflejaron efectos en la evolución química de la
pila, pero la microbiología no fue concluyente. Por último, hubo fluctuaciones de
temperatura en la evolución de la pila lo que pudo afectar al conjunto experimental.
