Impacto de la epilepsia infantil en el desarrollo del lenguaje: una revisión sistemática.

Abstract

Según Muñoz (2007), la epilepsia puede influir en los trastornos del lenguaje, ya que ciertos síndromes epilépticos pueden provocar alteraciones en esta habilidad, manifestándose en diferentes etapas del desarrollo del lenguaje; afectando tanto a la adquisición inicial como al desarrollo posterior. El presente trabajo se centra en conocer, mediante una revisión sistemática, los trastornos del lenguaje relacionados a la epilepsia infantil. Los hallazgos y conclusiones de este estudio reflejan que, las áreas más afectadas del lenguaje son la comprensión, la expresión, el léxico, la sintaxis, etc. Sin embargo, no hay un consenso claro. Además, se hace poca o nula mención a la figura del logopeda, la cual juega un papel muy importante en el diagnóstico, evaluación y tratamiento de la patología. Sería necesario llevar a cabo más investigaciones acerca del tema e incluir la figura del logopeda.

According to Muñoz (2007), epilepsy can influence language disorders, since certain epileptic syndromes can cause alterations in this ability, manifesting at different stages of language development, affecting both initial acquisition and subsequent development. The present work is focused on knowing, by means of a systematic review, the language disorders related to childhood epilepsy. The findings and conclusions of this study reflect that the most affected areas of language are comprehension, expression, lexis, syntax, etc. However, there is no clear consensus. In addition, little or no mention is made of the figure of the speech therapist, who plays a very important role in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of the pathology. It would be necessary to carry out more research on the subject and include the figure of the speech therapist.
