Como afecta la contaminación marítima de los buques ROPAX en el Estrecho de Gibraltar

Abstract

Con este Trabajo Fin de Grado con título “COMO AFECTA LA CONTAMINACIÓN MARÍTIMA DE LOS BUQUES RO-PAX EN EL ESTRECHO DE GIBRALTAR” nace de la necesidad de hacer conocer al mundo de la marina mercante y a los futuros marinos, de la gran problemática y variedad de contaminación que los buques RO-PAX provocan en el Estrecho de Gibraltar. La contaminación marítima no es un tema nuevo y está a la orden del día, pero desde hace años esto ha sido un gran problema, al que no se encuentra una solución como es debido y por ello estamos ante grandes desastres y cambios en el ecosistema que afectan directamente a todas las especies que viven en este lugar e indirectamente a la humanidad. Hoy en día, en el Estrecho de Gibraltar operan una gran afluencia de navieras con diferentes buques dedicados al transporte de mercancías y pasajeros a la vez. Por ello debemos conocer los grandes peligros que conllevan estos buques para el ecosistema marino, su fauna y flora de las que muchos viven y muchos otros disfrutan en su día a día. Por ello es responsabilidad de todas y cada una de las personas, que por suerte trabajamos en la mar, en este lugar tan especial que permite la relación comercial entre los diferentes países como son Inglaterra, Marruecos y España, cuidar y preservar la salud y el bienestar de toda la fauna y flora que habita en él. Debido a esto exponemos diferentes métodos y causas de contaminación explicando cómo pueden ocurrir, que se debe hacer y a que nos debemos acoger para lograr el menor impacto posible, por desgracia implantados tras los sucesos ocurridos a lo largo de la historia en distintos lugares del mundo, no solo en el estrecho, por lo que organizaciones internacionales han implantado métodos obligatorios de lucha contra la contaminación a través de leyes, convenios y tratados.

With this project named " COMO AFECTA LA CONTAMINACIÓN MARÍTIMA DE LOS BUQUES RO-PAX EN EL ESTRECHO DE GIBRALTAR " arises from the need to raise awareness among the maritime industry and future seafarers about the significant problem and variety of pollution caused by RO-PAX ships in the Strait of Gibraltar. Maritime pollution is not a new issue and is prevalent today, but for years it has been a major problem with no proper solution, leading to significant disasters and ecosystem changes directly affecting all species living in this area and indirectly impacting humanity. Currently, a large number of shipping companies operate in the Strait of Gibraltar with various vessels dedicated to transporting goods and passengers simultaneously. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the significant dangers posed by these ships to the marine ecosystem, its fauna, and flora, which many rely on for their livelihoods and many others enjoy on a daily basis. Thus, as a responsibility of each and every one of us fortunate enough to work at sea, especially in this special location facilitating commercial relations between different countries such as England, Morocco, and Spain, it is essential to care for and preserve the health and well-being of all the fauna and flora inhabiting it. Consequently, we present various methods and causes of pollution, explaining how they can occur, what needs to be done, and what measures we should adhere to in order to minimize the impact. Unfortunately, these measures have been implemented following historical incidents worldwide, not only in the strait, prompting international organizations to enforce mandatory pollution control methods through laws, agreements, and treaties.
