Las páginas sucesivas tienen como objetivo el análisis de los primeros hospitales cristianos en el Somontano de Barbastro. Éstos nacieron tras la conquista aragonesa, se desarrollaron con la nueva sociedad feudal allí asentada y se transformaron al fi nal de la Edad Media y principios de la Modernidad. La red de hospitales llenó todo el territorio rural y los pequeños establecimientos urbanos evolucionaron hacia instituciones de mayor tamaño. Los protagonistas de la caridad fueron la Iglesia, el concejo y las cofradías, mientras que pobres, leprosos y huérfanos los objetos de ésta.The following pages aim to analysis the fi rst Christians hospitals in the Somontano de Barbastro. They were born after the Aragonese conquest, they were developed with the new feudal society there seated and they were transformed during the Early Modern Age. The hospital network involved all rural areas and the small urban establishments evolved into larger institutions. The Church, the council and brotherhoods were the protagonists and the poor, the lepers and the orphans were the target.
