La insolación en la isla de La Palma

Abstract

La insolación en la isla de La Palma es una variable meteorológica poco estudiada debido a la deficiencia de estaciones meteorológicas que recojan información de la misma. El objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar su comportamiento medio espacial y temporal a partir de la información disponible. Durante el período de prácticas se han extraído los datos diarios de la insolación de cinco localidades de la isla, de los años 2011 a 2013, con la finalidad de analizar las diferencias de ese trienio respecto a los valores medios. Además, se consideró interesante conocer la relación de la insolación con otras variables meteorológicas y con un tipo de tiempo, el régimen de alisio, por ser el más frecuente y característico en Canarias. Para ello, se ha utilizado la combinación de tres metodologías: uso de mapas del tiempo, análisis del viento y de la nubosidad.

The sunshine on La Palma island is a weather variable understudied due to deficiency of weather stations to collect the same information. The objective of this research is to characterize the spatial and temporal behavior using the available information. During “Prácticas Externas” time, the dialy insolation data was taken taken from five localities of the island for three years, from 2011 to 2013, in order to analyze the differences of the three-year period to the average values. In addition, it was considered interesting to know the relaction of the insolation with other meteorological variables and with a kind of wether, the trade wind regime, because this is the most common and characteristic in the Canaries. For this we have used a combination of three methods: análisis of weather maps, of wind and cloud cover.
