Abstract

La enfermería se enfrenta a un crecimiento exponencial de las personas que, por un proceso terminal, entran en cuidados paliativos. En el marco actual, es crucial la intervención de los profesionales de Atención Primaria para abordar de forma precoz y eficiente la delicada situación a la que se ven sometidos los pacientes en etapa final de vida y sus allegados. Cornelia M. Ruland y Shirley M. Moore elaboraron la teoría de rango medio para el final de vida tranquilo en 1998, con el objetivo de aportar al gremio enfermero una síntesis estratégica para orientar y mejorar la intervención de sus profesionales frente a esta incipiente situación.
