De Cajal a la exploración astrobiológica de Marte: ciencia, ficción y educación STEAM

Abstract

Existe una especie de hilo conductor multitemático, que conecta la exploración y estableci- miento de análogos planetarios en las Islas Canarias, la ciencia ficción, la educación STEAM y la figura de D. Santiago Ramón y Cajal, con el futuro de las investigaciones astrobiológicas en Marte. En este artículo, se abordan, en relación con nuestro insigne premio nnobel y el espacio: a) su interés personal por la temática, tanto en el ámbito científico como en el de la ciencia ficción; b) la proyección de Cajal hacia el cosmos, bien como elementos de su obra o en su calidad de personaje ilustre y reconocido; y c) la importancia de las investigaciones de Cajal, en el contexto de recientes investigaciones, que vinculan aspectos geológicos-mi- neralógicos-astrobiológicos con el cerebro y Marte.

There is a kind of multi-thematic thread connecting the exploration and establishment of planetary analogues in the Canary Islands, science fiction, STEAM education, and the figure of D. Santiago Ramón y Cajal, with the future of astrobiological research on Mars. In this article, in relation to our illustrious Nobel Prize and space, we address: a) his personal interest in the subject, both in the scientific and science fiction fields; b) his projection of Cajal into the cosmos, either as elements of his work or in his capacity as an illustrious and renowned figure; and c) the importance of Cajal’s research in the context of recent studies linking geological-mineralogical-astrobiological aspects with the brain and Mars.
