La renovación de la fotografía española a partir de la pauta estética del Realismo. Un precedente formal y significativo en el reportaje de Eugene Smith sobre Deleitosa (Cáceres)

Abstract

A la hora de hablar de la renovación en la fotografía española a mediados del siglo xx, hay que tener en cuenta una pauta concreta, de signo estético, que va a ser determinante para su consecución y que se deriva de la aplicación de posiciones realistas al campo del arte. Ciertamente, se trata de un fenómeno generalizado, extendido a manifestaciones tan dispares como la literatura o el cine. Dentro de la parcela fotográfica, el reportaje se constituye en el principal medio para llevarlo a efecto. Frente al pictorialismo idealizador e intemporal, el fotorreportaje se erige en crónica descarnada, no evitando una función crítica, de la situación actual, como ejemplifica perfectamente el trabajo del norteamericano Eugene Smith sobre el pueblo extremeño de Deleitosa.

At the moment of speaking about the renovation in the Spanish photography in the middle of the 20th century, it is necessary to bear in mind a concrete guideline, of aesthetic sign, which is going to be a determinant for his attainment and which stems from the application of realistic positions to the field of the art. Certainly, it is a question of a widespread phenomenon extended to manifestations as unlike as the literature or the cinema. Inside the photographic plot, the photographic article is constituted in the principal way to take it to effect. Opposite to the pictorialism, this photography is raised in emaciated chronicle, not avoiding a critical function, of the current situation, since it exemplifies perfectly the work of the North American Eugene Smith about Deleitosa.
