La relación entre la Odontología y la Logopedia en Parkinson

Abstract

La Enfermedad de Parkinson es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa (la segunda más común del mundo) que se caracteriza por presentar un trastorno en el control de los movimientos musculares, que se manifiesta cuando las neuronas no producen suficiente dopamina. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo principal dar a conocer la relación que existe entre la Odontología y la Logopedia en Parkinson, así como elaborar una guía para una propuesta de intervención logopédica, basada en la información recopilada sobre el tema. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda en diversas fuentes de información y bases de datos como “Pubmed”, “Google”, “Google Académico” y el servicio de Biblioteca de la Universidad de La Laguna. En cuanto a la información obtenida, este trabajo recoge que, el Parkinson, presenta problemas tanto de tipo odontológico (que dificultan el tratamiento de la prótesis dental en estos pacientes) como de tipo logopédico (disartria, hipomimia, disfagia, deglución atípica,...), cuyo órgano de intervención común es el sistema estomatognático y que es el logopeda el encargado de su rehabilitación, mediante la terapia miofuncional (y otros tratamientos), mejorando los problemas presentes en ambas áreas. Finalmente, se concluye que, efectivamente, existe una relación entre la Odontología y la Logopedia, y que debe haber, por tanto, un servicio de Logopedia en las clínicas dentales y un equipo multidisciplinar que coordine a los profesionales de ambas disciplinas para garantizar los mejores resultados en su intervención en EP.

Parkinson's Disease is a neurodegenerative disease (the second most common in the world) that is characterized for presenting a disorder in the control of the muscular movements, which demonstrates when the neurons do not produce sufficient dopamine. This work has as principal aim announce the relation that exists between the Odontolgy and the Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy in Parkinson, as well as elaborate a guide for an offer of speech-language pathologic intervention, based on the information compiled about the topic. For it, a search was realized in diverse sources of information and databases like "Pubmed", "Google", "Google Scholar" and the service of Library of the University of La Laguna. As for the obtained information, this work gathers that, the Parkinson, he presents problems so much of odontologic type (that they impede the treatment of the dental prothesis in these patients) as of speech-language pathologic type (dysarthria, hypomimia, dysphagia, atypical swallowing...), whose organ of intervention in common is the stamatognathic system and the speech-language therapist is the manager of his rehabilitation, by means of the myofunctional therapy (and other treatments), improving the present problems in both areas. Finally, it concludes that, effectively, a relation exists between the Odontolgy and the Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy, and that there must be, therefore, a service of Speech therapy in the dental clinics and a multidisciplinary equipment that coordinates the professionals of both disciplines to guarantee the best results in his intervention in PD.
