Fragmentos esféricos en coladas de lava históricas (génesis y tipologías)

Abstract

Las coladas de lava, tanto aa como pahoehoe, están caracterizadas habitualmente por la existencia en su superficie de múltiples fragmentos de morfología más o menos esférica, cuya génesis y tipología aún no está bien definida en la literatura científica. En este trabajo se estudian las características de este tipo de fragmentos superficiales en las coladas de los volcanes históricos de Garachico y de El Chinyero. Estos volcanes corresponden a erupciones basálticas de edad y comportamientos eruptivos similares, pero poseen coladas de lava muy diferentes en cuanto a su área de emplazamiento, trazado y longitud, lo que permite analizar la importancia de factores diversos en la génesis y tipología de los fragmentos esferoidales de ambos conjuntos volcánicos.

Lava flows, both aa and pahoehoe, are usually characterized by the existence on its surface of multiple fragments of more or less spherical morphology, whose genesis and typology is not yet well defined in the scientific literature. In this paper we study the characteristics of this type of fragments superficial in historic Garachico and the Chinyero volcano washes. These volcanoes are basaltic eruptions of age and similar eruptive behaviour, but they have very different lava flows in terms of its location, layout and length area, allowing you to analyze the importance of various factors in the genesis and typology of spherical fragments of both volcanic sets.
