Desarrollo e Implementación de un Sistema Aumentativo de Comunicación en una persona con Síndrome de Down

Abstract

De entre los trastornos evidentes en el Síndrome de Down destacan diversas alteraciones en la comunicación y/o del lenguaje, más concretamente en la producción del lenguaje oral, ya sea por problemas articulatorios o cognitivos. Estos déficits pueden verse solventados por los Sistemas Aumentativos y Alternativos de Comunicación (SAAC), cuya finalidad es complementar al lenguaje oral cuando este no es suficiente por sí mismo, permitiendo así que estas personas puedan comunicarse a través de ellos. Este trabajo presenta una intervención logopédica para una persona de 26 años con estas características genéticas y comunicativas. En él, se exhibe la evaluación tanto de la calidad de vida como de sus necesidades comunicativas, para la posterior elección del sistema más adecuado a cubrir éstas y la elaboración e implementación de este sistema aumentativo de comunicación para su uso en el centro al que acude.

Among the disorders that are evident in Down Syndrome, there are several alterations in communication and/or language, more specifically in the production of oral language, whether due to articulatory or cognitive problems. These deficits can be solved by the Augmentative and Alternative Systems of Communication (AAC), whose purpose is to complement oral language when it is not enough by itself, thus allowing these people to communicate through them. This work presents a logopedic intervention for a person of 26 years with these genetic and communicative characteristics. The evaluation of both the life quality and her communicative needs are shown inside, for the subsequent choice of the most adequate system to cover these ones and the elaboration and implementation of this augmentative communication system for using in the centre where she attends.
