dc.description.abstract | The Complex Construction of a Professional Identity for Graduates with Precarious Jobs». The article examines the construction of a professional identity under conditions of extended precarious work. How do university graduates handle the tensions between their professional an personal expectations, an the reality of a declining and progressively insecure labour market? The question is approached by presenting a single-case study of a youth care worker, whose attempts to find employment in her field an forge a professional identity are frustrated by the 2008. Methodologically, the research is based on an in-depth interview conducted an analyzed using Wengraf an Chamberlayne’s Biographical Narrative Interpretive Method (BNIM) The Method is a psychosocial approach to biography focused on narrative as a source of evidence for the understanding of subjectivity. The analysis reveals that, despite the interviewee’s downward trajectory and the precariousness of her present employment, the stable core of her self is constructed around a story that highlights her worth, effort, and competence. | es_ES |
