De fusiones artísticas y transcripciones reversas. Aproximación al arte sobre VIH/SIDA en España

Abstract

Esta investigación aborda el análisis de las manifestaciones artísticas sobre VIH/SIDA que se han producido en nuestro país desde el inicio de la epidemia y la visibilidad e impacto de las mismas en la sociedad española. La selección de artistas, colectivos, obras y exposiciones que han posibilitado la refl exión sobre los aspectos fundamentales del arte sobre el SIDA en nuestro país ha sido realizada en base a aspectos de índole conceptual, de los mecanismos y estrategias utilizadas en su producción y en su capacidad para abordar con profundidad la complejidad de la problemática que el virus ha puesto de manifi esto. Obras que, más allá de sus logros estéticos, se confi guran como vehículos de transformación social con una voluntad de cuestionar la representación social del SIDA y mostrar una mirada poliédrica de un virus que nos afecta a todos.

Th is study covers the research into artistic expressions on HIV/AIDS that have taken place in this country since the epidemic began and the visibility and impact of these on Spanish society through the analysis of its relationship with the culture industry. Th e selection of artists, groups, works and exhibitions that have enabled us to refl ect on the essential aspects of art on AIDS in this country was carried out according to conceptual aspects of the mechanisms and strategies used and the ability to tackle the complexity of the problem in depth that the virus has revealed. Works of art which, far beyond their aesthetic achievements, are social transformation tools willing to question the social representation of AIDS and show a polyhedral vision of a virus that aff ects us all.
