Psicop. en Contextos de Educación Formal y no Formal K1 Enseñanza primaria K1 Educación infantil K1 Diabetes K1 Profesores AB The following work has aimed to analyze the knowledge and attitudes presentedby the faculty of the first years of schooling, precisely the stage of Childhood Education,and 1st and 2nd of Primary Education, on chronic diseases, specifically, related toDiabetes Mellitus. To this effect, a descriptive study has been carried out, using aquestionnaire to collect datum. The survey respondents have been 106 teachers of theaforementioned stages who practice as such in different centers located in the CanaryIslands, specifically on the island of Tenerife (32 public and 6 concerted). Among theobtained results, only 3.8% of respondents claim to have knowledge of this disease, and4.7% feel safe against complicated situations that may present this medical condition. Theimplications of the results are discussed with the intent to make easier the establishmentof guidelines for the teaching staff. This will improve the inclusion of the students in theeducational environment.
