AB Urban gardens are a valuable resource when carrying out practical activities outside theclassroom. These represent an opportunity for the students to approach the naturalenvironment, thus promoting the use of field techniques for the study of the differentmorphological and physiological characteristics of the species. In this way, actions thatfavor the prevention and conservation of biodiversity are promoted.This proposal describes a series of activities carried out with the students of Biologyand Geology of the 1st Bachillerato IES Las Galletas. These activities revolve around avisit to the gardens of the Instituto de Canarias Cabrera Pinto (La Laguna), wherestudents have been able to identify plant species through the use of dichotomous keysand mobile applications. Finally, the students produced a final product in the form of adigital poster.
