The relevance to address these issues lies in theinfluence they have shown in the academic trajectories of the students, which can affecttheir adaptation possibilities, the processes of academic transitions, their outcomeexpectations, their performance, their satisfaction with the studies, and even thepermanence or abandonment of them. The novelty of this research is that, althoughstudies have been developed, which deepen the engagement and adaptability in highereducation or in working people, there are very few investigations that analyze thesefactors in relation to high school students. More specifically, this study delves into theacademic engagement and the level of adaptation to their educational process in asample of students (N = 307), specifically in the last school year of the high school ofseven different educational centers in Tenerife. A descriptive methodology wasfollowed, based on the application of a questionnaire as a technique for collectinginformation. The most significant results show that the participating students presentsatisfactory levels of adaptation and academic engagement, and women show thehighest levels in both dimensions. In addition, positive relationships have been foundamong the factors analyzed (adaptability, engagement, performance and satisfaction),which provides relevant information to the development of orientation processes ineducational centers. The results found and the relationships established between thedifferent factors are an interesting reference to develop programs to improve academicengagement and adaptation in students, which could facilitate the transition of studentsto higher education.
