This generationincludes young people born between the beginning of the 80s and the beginning of the2000s. They have characteristic features that differentiate them from other generations, such as the preference for rent instead of buying, or the predilection for use and not forthe property. It is important to know the behavior of the millennial as a consumer, as a employee or asa tourist, the latter being the case that concerns us. In tourism, companies and destinationsare paying attention to this new segment of customers: they are tourists who liveconnected to new technologies, are well informed, seek original destinations, demandauthenticity, new experiences and sensations and give great importance to being able toshare with their acquaintances, those experiences through social networks, as well asbeing able to express their opinions about the services or tourist destinations visited.Given the great importance of tourism in the Canary Islands, as an engine of growth inthe islands, this work aims to advance towards the knowledge of the segment of millennialtourists in the archipelago. An approximation has been made to this tourist segment, inorder to contrast if they comply with the features mentioned in the bibliography consulted. For this, the source of data collection has been the Tourism Expenditure Survey (EGT)prepared quarterly by the ISTAC.The main conclussion of the study is that the millennnial tourists who visit Canary Islandshave most of the features indicated in the literature, except for their concern for theenvironment which, according to the results, is less present in this generation than inothers.
