When comparing the diversity of perspectives from which philologyand literary history have been dealt with throughout the twentieth century, a profound lackof balance is spotted between these two disciplines. Notwithstanding this, today the situationseems to have followed the opposite direction, and this accounts for the rediscovery ofgreat poets, of a part of the dramatic and narrative production as well as of the translationactivity carried out in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The author calls for a globalknowledge of that which is medieval, asking for an approach to medieval texts which departsfrom the notion of indisciplinariety. New technologies reveal themselves as invaluable toolsin this process. PB Universidad de La Laguna.
