Thepotato sector has had a slight improvement in its economic situation in recent years, which has led to a small increase in the production area has been affected in recentyears by the social situation in the rural world, which has led to a small tendency toincorporate new plantations. Although there are still important problems such as theGuatemalan moth (Tecia solanivora), low sales prices and the lack of generationalrelief.A trial of 11 commercial cultivars of “white potatoes” was carried out in themunicipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna on the island of Tenerife. In an experimentalplot of the Section of Agrarian Engineering of the Advanced Polytechnic EngineeringSchool of the University of La Laguna. The experience was carried out betweenFebruary 19 and June 26, 2017, the variety of testing was Druid, since it is acommercial variety widely distributed in the island territory. In the trial, we used a randomized block design with three replications and 11treatments, corresponding to the 11 cultivars. The size of the experimental plot was10.8 m2. The 33 experimental plots and the 3 blocks were separated by corridors of0.75 m width, to facilitate data collection and avoid the edge effect. The analyzed parameters were: the emergence of the seedlings, average heightof flowering, duration of the cycle of cultivation of each cultivar, total and commercialproduction, waste, calibrating, percentage of dry matter, incidence in pests anddiseases, and organoleptic evaluation.10The most productive varieties were Druid, followed by Libertie and Sagitta withmore than 49,000kg / ha. The varieties best valued for their organoleptic qualities forboth fried and stewed, were Sagitta, Manitou and Vanilla. In general, calibers of largesize were obtained, predominantly those between 60 and 80 mm, and very few tuberswith calibers in the environment or below 40 mm.During the trial, no significant damage of pests and diseases were observed.Libertie and Sagitta, among the white-skin cultivars, and Manitou among the red-skincultivars had a good productive performance, with production values similar to thoseof the control, a shorter cycle and similar tasting test results.
