AB The study of the public healthcare utilisation by tourists constitutes a social need that must bestudied, particularly given the Canary Island´s touristic nature. This essay aims to analyse theisland perspectives of two variables. The propensity of use of healthcare services within theNational Health System and the average expenditure per tourist. Using data supplied by the SCSand ISTAC we will build the different variables, which are the object of this study and will analysethem through statistical methods from unidimensional distributions. Differences between theutilisation of public healthcare have been identified. This finding contributes to the interest of a moredetailed study of these differences (as well as the determining factors of the usage of healthcareservices by tourists) for a better distribution of the resources by the healthcare management of the7 health areas in order to better respond to their financial requirements.
