With this work, we intend to verify the evidence regardingthe hippocampus as a structure that presents different volumes in each sex. Therefore, our main objective was to test whether the differences found in the volume of this areaare explained by belonging to the group, being male or female, and not by othervariables. To do this, we had the structural MR data from a sample of 60 participants of bothgender equalized, extracting the measurements of the absolute hippocampal volumeand the intracranial volume of each one for statistical comparisons, using the variables'total volume' and 'Sex' as independent variables and the variable 'volume' as dependent. However, our results suggest that the apparent effect of sex to explain the volumetricdifferences of the hippocampus disappears when corrective measures are introduced.
