AB Archaeological soil micromorphology and lipid biomarker analysis are powerfulgeoarchaeological tools for the study of the human past. In this study, both techniqueshave been applied jointly in a study of the Tubo Volcánico de los Roques de García’sGuanche site, located at Las Cañadas del Teide (Tenerife, Canary Islands). The resultshave allowed the identification of a rich sedimentary sequence containing at least twohuman occupation surfaces and three abandonment periods. Strong combustion activityinvolving conifer woody fuel is evidenced during the occupation periods. Presence ofgoat/sheep excrements associated to one of the occupation floors was also documented.These data provide accurate knowledge about aspects of the Guanche population's life inLas Cañadas, as well as about geogenic processes taking place at the site and contributingto the formation of its archaeosedimentary sequence.
