AB The purpose of this paper is to quantify the importance of inter-establishments wage inequalityon total wage dispersion in Spain. Based on the Structure of Earnings Survey 2014 microdata, theresults of the decomposition of the variance and the Theil index suggest that inter-establishmentwage inequality, once we control by the characteristics of the worker, the job and the workplace,explains around 41 per cent of the total wage dispersion. This shows, on the one hand, therelevance of demand factors in wage determination and, on the other, the importance of theworkplace on the wages earned by workers.
