AB The purpose of the present work is to expose in a systematic way theanswer given by the urban planning law to the pathologicalphenomenon of its infringements. The repeated failure to comply withthe urban planning legislation has been a widespread bad praxis, whichhas led to a complex framework of state and regional provisions. Intheir tireless effort, the mechanisms of protection against illegal actionsare established with an ever greater perfection, either because they lackthe enabling title or because, once granted, they do not comply with thelaw. The result of this has been the new Law 4/2017 of the CanaryIslands, which, due its desire to simplify, rationalize and update theapplicable legal regime, has introduced some improvements worthanalyzing.This work consists in studying the different protectionmechanisms, analyzing first the adoption of the provisional measures,passing then by the possibility of legalization of the irregular actionsand, finally, the definitive measures of re-establishment to be adopted.
