AB The reform carried out following the Organic Law 1/2015, marked a radicalchange regarding the nature of parole. According to the previous regulation,parole was established as the fourth and final prison grade, which is to say,the last period of the enforcement order. However, this reform has changedthe very condition of this order, making it a form of moratorium concerningthe enforcement of the sentence. The aim of this study is to analyse thepresent legal regime regarding parole (regulation, requirements andmodalities), parole foreseen in the case of revisable permanentimprisonment and to determine whether, following the changes, thiscontinues to comply with one of the main purposes; to serve as a resocializing instrument.
