RT info:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesis T1 Matemáticas y epidemiología: modelos y conclusiones A1 Quintana Cruz, Yasmina K1 Epidemias, Ecuaciones diferenciales, Modelos matemáticos AB Thoroughout this work we will study the history of epidemiological models, the epidemiologyconcept and its objectives and several models frequently used in epidemiology. Our goal will be,in particular, analyze from a mathematical point of view several compartmental deterministicmodels and deduce from them useful conclusions. We will focus on the models SI, SIS and SIRintruduced by Hamer, Mckendrick and Kermack that model current diseases like AIDS, diseasesproduced by bacteria and, in general, several viral diseases, such as the flu. It is clear that themodeling of any disease is necessary for the control of epidemics and, in particular, to evaluatethe efficiency of vaccinations aimed at controlling, or even extinguish, them. This modeling isdone, mostly, through Ordinary Differential Equations (also called abbreviated ODE’s). Thecontributions from different authors along the history have been important to study the modelsin an optium way establishing for it theorems that allow us to understand them.
