T1 New immigration trends in Tenerife

AB The reactivation of immigration in Tenerife in recentyears presents some new aspects with respect toprevious periods: migration from Venezuela, Cubaand Italy is increasing and traditional migrant flows ofGerman or British origin is dropping. The preponderanceof labour motives of migration, as opposed to residentialones, reinforces the settlement of new inhabitants in thesouthern part of the island, particularly in the Southwestarea. It also influences the diversity of the residentpopulation and the formation of settlements with apronounced multicultural component.
