AB The end of the 19th Century and at the beginning of the 20th La Matanza de Acentejo(Tenerife) was characterized by an unlucky economic policy in which there was a place forthe so-called tax on food. People in La Matanza de Acentejo brought into all kind of printedproducts fraudulently to avoid paying it and they were reluctant to the practice of valuationsin their warehouses or shop. The administrator post of this tax was questioned by theconstant abused when it was collected and the book-keeping irregularities of every financialyear. The 12th June, 1911 Law abolished it progressively and created new local excise taxes.
