It is stated that alterations in the composition of the human microbiota, which lead to the triggering of various pathologies, can be treated with the repopulation with bacteria that are usually part of such a microbiota under normal conditions and that this treatment has beneficial effects with less collateral consequences than conventionalantibacterial drugs. On the other hand, for the treatment of diseases which are not the result of alterations of the microbiota composition, but due to more complex processes (i.e., cancer), the possibility of using bacterial-based therapies by using a variety of recombinant products obtained by genetic manipulation of several bacterial species is considereded.
