AB In this work we expose in detail an effective mathematical model for predictingcontraceptive drug release profiles and optimization of vaginal ring design presented inseveral research papers that constitutes Helbling's doctoral thesis [1].The resolution ofthe model is done using notions of differential and integral calculus of one variable andthe theory of ordinary differential equations. Two particular situations will be presented:a model without external resistance and a model with a membrane, which purpose is tosimulate the conditions of an in vitro and in vivo test respectively, and then validate themodels by comparing the theoretical predictions with experimental data.
