RT info:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesis T1 ¿Es posible la eliminación de la enfermedad del sueño en África Central y Occidental? A1 Matteoni Nuti, Jeremy K1 Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, Tripanosomiasis humana africana AB The progressive reduction in the number of cases of Human African trypanosomiasis(HAT) in the last decade has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to set thegoal of the elimination of the disease by 2030. However, recent discoveries on animalreservoirs and extravascular locations of parasites in the human host may pose an obstacleto this target. This Final Degree Project analyses the current situation of the diseasecaused by Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, highlighting the best advances in each sector(control vector strategies, new diagnostic methods and the inclusion of a new drug), atthe same time evaluating new findings which may restrain the elimination of the disease.
