The anodizing treatment wascarried out in 1.0 M NaOH and 0.5 M Na2SiO3 solution, using three different currentdensities, 5 mA.cm-2, 10 mA.cm-2 and 20 mA.cm-2. The surface morphology andthickness of the anodized layers were examined by scanning electron microscopy. Thesurface chemical states were assessed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The globalelectrochemical behavior was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopyand potentiodynamic polarization. The local electrochemical activity was monitored byscanning electrochemical microscopy and scanning Kelvin probe. In vitrobiocompatibility was assessed by cytotoxicity tests. The results indicated a markedinfluence of the anodizing current density on the surface morphology and globalelectrochemical behavior of the treated samples. The surface chemistry, in turn, waslittle affected by this parameter. The best corrosion resistance was obtained for thesamples anodized at 20 mA.cm-2 YR 2020 FD 2020 LK http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/22005 UL http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/22005 LA en DS Repositorio institucional de la Universidad de La Laguna RD 09-may-2024
