A1 Francisco Lucena, Amairany Katiuska AB This document details the process of researching, designing and manufacturing of the batterypack for a Formula Student Electric vehicle that will materialize in the period 2019-2021 at theUniversity of La Laguna. The Formula Student is an educational project, consisting on a competition that takes placeworldwide at the university level and deals with the design, development and construction of aformula car (electric or combustion) by students, whose purpose is to pass a series ofestablished tests. This competition is expected for students to acquire the necessary skills in thefield of racing vehicles to face the world of work later. The FSULL team has opted for the design of an electric car. Therefore, one of the mostimportant elements of the vehicle is the battery system (power train), which is responsible forsupplying the necessary energy to the traction system of the car and satisfactorily complyingwith the tests. In this memory, we will talk about the initial requirements and needs of the vehicle, thetheoretical calculations necessary to establish the characteristics of the cells, the process ofselecting the batteries, the conditions in which the vehicle will be located, and all the stepsfollowed until reaching the final design of the pack. The battery pack is intended to store and provide the necessary energy of the vehicle to pass allthe tests to which it will undergo once built. In addition, it must be able to give the necessarydynamic power during the development of the entire event (overcome each and every test towhich the vehicle will be subjected).According to the theoretical results of research and design, the market components for theconstruction of this pack are selected, and the information is also attached in this document, aswell as a comparative analysis of our final proposal of the pack with other possible designs.
