AB This document studies the problems derived from the penetration of renewableenergies in an isolated distribution network. The intention of this research is to find asolution to these problems. To this end, the possibility of installing an energy storagesystem to help eliminate existing obstacles or, in any case, reduce them, is analyzed.This work will show how, at present, in different places this type of system isalready being used to meet this objective. Likewise, all obstacles to this end arediscovered and possible solutions are presented. Finally, the different types of energystorage destined to such purpose are introduced to conclude with the election of one ofthem and its application to an isolated distribution network, valuing its technical,economic, environmental and social impact
