Among the numerous ladies at the Angevine court who protected literature and the production of books, some of the most outstanding ones were Marie de Blois (1340-1404), Yolanda de Aragón (1381-1442), Isabelle de Lorraine (1400-1453), Jeanne de Laval (1433-1498) and Marie de Cléves (1426-1487). René d’Anjou’s relatives, wives or friends, these women’s patronage is analized in this work through the study of several records and manuscripts which reveal a real interest in the art of books and illumination, as well as in the courtly literature at the time. Special attention is devoted to Guillaume de Digulleville’s Pèlerinage de Vie humaine, in both its verse and prose versions. This work, commissioned by Jeanne de Laval, enjoyed a wide female readership, with such prestigious figures as Marguerite d’Anjou, Blanche d’Anjou or Guyonne de Beauvau. PB Universidad de La Laguna.
