RT info:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesis T1 Desalación de agua marina mediante energías renovables A1 Tremearne Dorta, Guillermo AB The purpose of this project is the development and demonstration by thestudent of the knowledge and skills developed in the degree of MechanicalEngineering, which is why two attitudes are simultaneously evaluated inthe project, the professional and the academic to be able to obtain the titleof Industrial Technical Engineer at the University of La Laguna.Autonomously and correctly, with the support of the tutor of the FinalDegree Project, the study and dimensioning of the different equipmentrequired in the implementation of a seawater desalination station (EDAM)will be carried out through a semi-permeable membrane plant (reverseosmosis) and supplied by a mixed solar and wind energy system avoidingthe consumption of non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels. An estimate of the economic cost and its environmental impact and its longterm viability will be made, also, the viability of different sites in the CanaryIslands will be analysed, according to the renewable resource availableand the need for water selected among the different Canary Islands, observing the analyses exposed in the hydrological plans prepared by theInsular Water Council of each of the islands. The desalination plant's capacity will correspond to a small to mediumdesalination (2,000 - 10,000 m3/ day) and the water will be used to supplydrinking water to the population of San Sebastián de la Gomera.Specifically, the final solution adopted in this TFG will be a seawater plantby reverse osmosis of 2,500 m3/ day capacity, fed by a wind turbine with800 kW of nominal power and a set of 1404 photovoltaic panels with a totalnominal power of 498.42 kWp. The system will be connected to the grid, which will support EDAM consumption or receive the surplus energyproduction from the wind-photovoltaic system.
