AB The living will or prior instructions arises with the aim of showing the patient´sautonomy with a projection towards their future, for when they cannot express theirown will regarding health decisions that must be taken. It is regulated in article 11 ofthe state law, Law 41/2002, of November 14th. This law is the basic regulator of thepatient’s autonomy and of their rights and obligations in terms of information andclinical documentation. However, each Autonomous Community will be the onedeveloping said regulations.In particular, in this dissertation we will focus on analyzing the main haracteristics ofthis figure by also making comparing with the existing regulation on this matter in theAutonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
