However, more recent ethnographicstudies have documented a significant shift in young men’s attitudes and behaviours, withmore inclusive masculinities flourishing. My previous research has examined friendshipdynamics and popularity hierarchies among boys, showing that contemporary popularityis stratified by a boy’s charisma, authenticity, emotional support, and social fluidity.
