AB The growing popularity of sport tourism in the Canary Islands has been consolidated as one ofthe major growth sectors in the region. Landscape assets and other natural elements in the islandof El Hierro can be used to stimulate this interest, especially in Trail Running. This activity hasexperienced explosive growth in the last decade, which now includes international competitions inthe archipelago.El Hierro is already known as a popular tourist site, and currently is gaining the attention of TrailRunning enthusiasts. El Camino de la Virgen is a symbolic trail for the residents of El Hierro, andit satisfies the conditions and values as a proposed competition. This research project containsan analysis of the actual context of the island for the creation and valuation of a proposed trailrunning event from the Ermita de Los Reyes to Valverde.
