Polysiphonia subulifera (Rhodophyta, Rhodomelaceae) A1 Afonso Carrillo, Julio A1 Rojas González, Berta A2 BotánicaEcología y Fisiología Vegetal A2 Botánica Marina AB The vegetative and reproductive morphology and the distributionof Polysiphonia subulifera from the Canary Islands are examined. The Canarianplants are vegetatively characterized by a regular ramification each 4-5 segments, unbranched or branched spine-like branchlets, ecorticate 13-15 helically arrangedpericentral cells, and each segment with a scar cell. Fertile plants occur alongthe year. Spermatangial axes are conical ending in 1-2 sterile terminal cells, andthey replacing a branch of a trichoblast at the level of the first dichotomy.Cystocarps are globular and sessile, with polygonal and irregularly arrangedouter pericarp cells, decreasing in size towards ostiole. Tetrasporangia formedin spiral series in terminal branches. Mixed-phases, with cystocarps andtetrasporangia occurring simultaneously on a same plant were observed.Except in La Gomera, P. subulifera has been identified in all the islands of theCanarian Archipelago YR 2007 FD 2007 LK http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/26553 UL http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/26553 LA es DS Repositorio institucional de la Universidad de La Laguna RD 26-abr-2024
