AB Amphiroa fragilissima (L.) Lamouroux from the Canary Islands was examined with the scanning electron microscope. Epithallial concavities and trichocyte pores of the intergenicula surfacesare similar to the "Corallina-type" described by GARBARY & JOHANSEN(1982). The intergenicula sections reveal medular cells with thinwalls and numerous secundary pit-connections, and perithallial cellswith thick walls.
