AB Fifteen species of marine algae are reported from the Canary Islands for the first time: Batophora oerstediiJ. Agardh, Ulvella setchellii Dangeard, Compsonema microspongium (Batters) Kuckuck, Microcoryneocellata Strömfelt, Myriactula chordae (Areschoug) Levring, Myriotrichia clavaeformis Harvey, Nemacys.tus flexuosus (C. Agardh) Kylin, Scytosiphon dotyi Wynne, Gracilaria longa Gargiulo, De Masi et Tripodi,Naccaria wiggii (Turner) Endlicher, Pterocladia melanoidea (Bornet) Dawson, Porphyra carolinensis Collet Cox, Scinaia australis (Setchell) Huisman, Scinaia caribaea (Taylor) Huisman and Audouinella liagorae(Børgesen) Woelkering. Data about the geographical distribution of each species, as well as their morphol ogy, anatomy, phenology and ecological conditions are presented.
