A1 Le Parco, Yannick A2 BotánicaEcología y Fisiología Vegetal A2 Botánica Marina AB On the basis of morphological and genetic studies (rDNA ITS1, 5.8S, ITS2, and a 18S rDNA intron), we confirm herethat Caulerpa racemosa var. cylindracea (Sonder) Verlaque, Huisman et Boudouresque, a southwestern Australiantaxon recently introduced into the Mediterranean Sea also occurs in the Canary Islands. This is the first reportof C. racemosa var. cylindracea in the Atlantic. It was observed for the first time in the Canary Archipelago in1997–1998. The speed and regional scale of expansion (north Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea) of thisinvasive species appear to be among the most dramatic ever recorded. The possible outcome of this introduction inthe Atlantic is discussed YR 2004 FD 2004 LK http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/27261 UL http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/27261 LA en DS Repositorio institucional de la Universidad de La Laguna RD 14-ene-2025
