Data onmorphological variation of general habit, stipes, primaryand secondary branches, primary and secondary blades, vesicles and receptacles are presented. Sargassum orotavicum is a pseudoperennial species showing a significant seasonality in most parameters that have beenstudied. This species has four phases within the year: (1)regeneration, from perennial stipes and holdfasts in lateautumn; (2) growth, with the beginning of the development of thallus structures that renew every year, in winter;(3) reproductive, with a vegetative climax prior to thereproductive, in spring; and (4) senescence and degeneration, with detachment of thallus structures that renewyearly, in summer. Biomass of branches, blades, vesiclesand receptacles showed a significant seasonal variation, with maximum values in spring and minimum in late summer and autumn. This warm-temperate species exhibiteda phenological behaviour intermediate between tropicaland cold-temperate species of Sargassum. Analysis ofwithin- and between-individual stability of eleven continuous traits indicated that the highest variation occurredtemporally YR 2005 FD 2005 LK http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/27372 UL http://riull.ull.es/xmlui/handle/915/27372 LA en DS Repositorio institucional de la Universidad de La Laguna RD 08-jul-2024
